Checks

How Often to Check Sprinklers in Houston

Twice a year is the minimum that catches Houston damage. Once in spring before the heat, and once in midsummer when clay has shrunk and heads have tilted. Add a walk any week a storm or a landscape crew has been in the yard.

What you are looking for

Heads that do not pop, heads that spray the fence, a station that will not stop, and a box full of water the next morning. Those four are enough. You do not need a gauge to know a head is broken.

When to stop checking and call

If the shutoff does not stop the water, or you cannot find the valve, stop digging. Call 346-642-6161. A check is a look. A repair starts when the look finds something that will not wait for the next season.
